AMISH FTW!
Believe me when I tell you that this will soon become one of your favorite cookies – ever. Light, sweet, fluffy, and buttery; these Amish Soft Sugar Cookies are the stuff that dreams are made of.
Admittedly, I learned a lot about the Amish culture that I might have otherwise not discovered had it not been for these cookies. When a friend told me about them, I found myself confused. “I thought the Amish didn’t believe in electricity or decadent treats.” I was quickly reminded that there were ways to cook before the invention of electricity, was informed that while electricity in many forms is not permissible, many Amish individuals employ the use of battery operated items, and that decadent treats are abundant in Amish tradition.
With the recipe in hand, I felt like I was holding an ancient text. Something special and traditional, and I suddenly felt overwhelmed by the pressure to do these sweet treats justice.
