Classic Chocolate Depression Cake!

CHEER UP…IT’S CHOCOLATE!

Let’s take it back to the old school in the days of the Great Depression. Nothing great about that, except perhaps this cake. It might be from a bygone era, but today there are tons of people with egg and dairy issues and this cake doesn’t have either of those things in there so it’s perfect to make for someone who can’t have those things. You won’t know they’re missing from your cake either. I talked about a different recipe for one here, and while the cake ingredients are the same, it’s the frosting that is different between the two. And just a little bit of the method is different, but only slightly so.

Those little differences you probably won’t even notice. What you WILL notice is that this is full-on chocolaty. Like Homer Simpson’s adventure in “The Land of Chocolate” where everything is made up of chocolate. Even a little dog that barks at him. My favorite part is when he picks up the parking dog and bites into it and it runs off yapping. When his daydream is interrupted though, he’s at one of the least delicious places of all…the power plant. Oh good times! That’s what any time with cake is though, and this one is no exception to that rule. Let’s go to the next page (click the Next button below) to discover how to make this Chocolate Depression Cake.
