VERY VINTAGE!
I am an absolute sucker for old-school recipes. That’s because they’ve been made longer than I’ve been alive and that should tell you something. Recipes that stand the test of time are not to be ignored. There’s a reason people painstakingly wrote them out on index cards and then passed them along. These are the recipes worth having. They command our attention. Now, I’m a gal that loves my coffee. I cannot function without it in the morning. In fact, my children have come to understand that we do not pepper Mommy with 1,000 questions in the morning before coffee has been consumed. My mom also had this rule when my brother and I were small.
I’m also a gal who loves her chocolate. So imagine my complete happiness when I found this recipe. It had all the makings for being great – old-fashioned, chocolate, coffee, ganache, moistness – need I go on? If you’re not a huge coffee fan, I can dig it but I implore you please don’t turn your back on this incredible cake. The coffee taste is really so very subtle. You won’t really know it’s there.
