QUICK. EASY. DELICIOUS!
I swear, my whole life is food. When I’m not making it, or eating it, I’m watching it. On TV, not in my fridge. I’m not THAT crazy. Anyway, I love cooking shows or anything having to do with food. One day, I was watching one of them (I can’t remember which show it was) and they’d gone to a place called Yoder’s in Sarasota, Florida. It’s an Amish restaurant famed for its homemade pies. They interviewed the old lady who bakes the pies there and she went on to say that the pies were made the same way for ages and that they never have any unnatural ingredients. In fact, she said that every pie was made with less than 10 ingredients. Now that’s old-school pie making right there.
I have a love-hate relationship with pies. Well, “hate” is the wrong word. I suppose we’re more like frenemies. That’s because some pies are just a massive pain in the butt to make. They are a true labor of love. But other pies are a total cinch and while I love eating all pies equally, there is a very special place in my heart for pies that are quick and easy to make.
