YES, REALLY!
I know. I know. I saw it too. That’s why I chose this recipe to review. Hard boiled egg chocolate chip cookies?!? Like ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. That’s what my daughters said. I have to admit that by the name alone, I completely agreed with them. But then I got to thinking…when we make chocolate chip cookies, we put raw eggs in the batter. This one requires hard boiled eggs. Could it be so vastly different? In the name of baking, I had to try this out to see if it was as vomitous as the name sounded. As I started making these, I came to realize that unlike other cookies with raw eggs in the dough, these had cooked eggs. So that meant I could totally eat some cookie dough. Score!
At that point, it wasn’t too bad but I was still a little weirded out. Into the oven they went and when they came out, oh boy. If I didn’t make them myself, I’d never have known that hard boiled eggs were in these. They were very dense in texture, denser than a typical chocolate chip cookie but absolutely amazing. So there.
