TAKE YOUR TASTE BUDS BACK IN TIME!
The other day, I was looking for something in our closet and I got distracted with a box of old photos. My dad had given them to me on our last visit and I’d just put them away when we had come home, making a mental note to check them out later. Obviously I forgot. Until now. And for an hour, I disappeared into the closet, looking at old photos of my grandparents when they were young and good-looking, before old age made them looking wrinkled and weary. As I looked at the young version of my grandma in front of me, it was hard not to cry as I thought of the last time I had ever seen her.
Many of the photos were from big family dinners too. You could see all the home-cooked goodness on the table and Grandma’s incredible cakes and pies she made from scratch. So every time I find a classic recipe like this carrot cake, it makes me think of these old timey times and it makes me happy. Carrot cake was something I never got into until I was an adult but I adore how old-fashioned this is, like it’s straight from a bygone era. We can’t go back in time, but we can taste things from the old times at least. Let’s go to the next page (click the Next button below) to discover how to make this Carrot Cake with Pecan Frosting.
